Babka Community Guidelines

This policy is part of the Terms of Use. Capitalized terms used in this policy have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Use.
Please note that these Community Guidelines are enforced the discretion of the site operators and moderators. Any disruptive abusive or disruptive behavior on the platform not already covered in these guidelines may still result in removal of content, account lockout or suspension. In evaluating violations of our Community Guidelines, we may examine behavior both on and off our Products.
These guidelines cover user activity on all Babka Products. If Activity from another connected platform violates these policies, we may not have a direct enforcement mechanism, though we will attempt to remove the material from Babka, and if the material continues to be a problem, we will consider stronger actions, such as placing content warnings on an external account, or de-federation from the other platform.
Babka’s Mission
Babka’s mission, as spelled out in our Values is to foster an online community where Jews and allies can engage with each other and the outside world in meaningful, positive and authentic ways.
Our Community Guidelines establish a set of norms and common codes of conduct that provide for a safe and welcoming space to serve that mission.
Hate Speech
We do not allow hate speech of any kind on Babka. This includes but is not limited to hate speech related to the following categories:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- Religion
- Nationality or National Origin
- Gender
- Gender Identity
- Sexual Orientation
- Disability
- Caste
- Illness or Disability
Antisemitism/Jew Hatred
In addition to these, as a Jewish instance, we are particularly attuned to issues of antisemitism/Jew hatred. In evaluating whether speech is antisemitic, we utilize the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, which has been adopted by organizations and governments worldwide.
No Spiritual Bullying
Babka is an inclusive community and we do not allow activities which are meant to use pressure or shame in convincing others of religious matters, nor using gatekeeping techniques to claim that someone is or is not a “real Jew”. Examples of this include, but are not limited to:
- Insistence on keeping halactic practice, such as keeping Kosher or Keeping Shabbat
- Insistence on some denominations being more “correct” than others
- Claims that converts are not “real Jews”
- Claims that one denomination or sect is “superior” to another
- Insistence that one’s country of origin makes them better/superior Jews
- Claims that one Jewish population or group is superior to another
No Incitement or Promotion of Violence
Babka takes a firm stance against violence and we do not allow Posts that threaten others, encourage others to Threaten others, or promote violence by individuals or organizations.
Spread of Harmful Misinformation
We do not allow the deliberate spread of misinformation, including and especially information that may be used to spread hate, result in harassment, disrupts civic processes, could cause harm to someone’s health, promotes or spreads hoaxes.
Nudity and Violent Imagery
We do not allow pornographic material at Babka. Not all nudity is considered pornographic, and not all pornography involves nudity, but all nudity must be marked as Sensitive before posting.
Violent imagery that is not prohibited must be marked as Sensitive.
No Spam or Unsolicited Advertising on the Platform
Companies may not engage in direct or excessive commercial activity while using the Products.
Harassment
We do not allow harassment on the platform. This includes but is not limited to:
- Dogpiling
- Doxxing
- Continually posting unsolicited, irrelevant, and or unwanted replies on posts
- Unsolicited and unwanted direct messages
- Unwanted mentions
- Unwanted follow requests
No Illegal Content
We do not allow Posting of illegal content on the platform
Disruptive Behavior Not Otherwise Specified
Any behavior that is not otherwise specified in this document that causes disruption to the service and or results in a reduction of the safety of the Products.
